After Her Majesty passes away, if Charles becomes our head-of-state, if we don’t have this figured out by then; well, then, I’m fighting for it. I don’t care. Every day my country’s highest office is denied to its own citizenry, I feel worthless and inferior and seriously ripped off. I am ready and willing to take up arms in order to remove the monarchy.

I love and respect Queen Elizabeth II. I would never advocate her being dethroned, even in Canada. I don’t want to shake things up near the end of her reign, while an old woman. But after her? Enough is enough. We don’t need a king.

Join me. When Charles is crowned, the body politic will rise up. We will not stand for it.

Let us have a referendum! Don’t make us have a revolution.

How may members belong to Republic Now. And would they be considered Republicans. (not that I would mind.)
    Thank you

Like many Canadians I want to see Canada become a republic. It costs us over $50 million a year to support the GG his logins etc and ten lieutenants for all ten provinces. The GG is a Canadian however he represents the QUEEN not Canada. It also costs us millions when the royals come to visit. All this money could be spent on our soup kitchens an other social programs I am sick when new Canadians have to swear allegiance to the queen then Canada. What do we get in return? Nothing!
Did you know that around 1965 the queen signed an authorization for the invasion and take over of the small peaceful island nation of Diego Garcia forcing it’s inhabitants onto ships to be taken to Mauritius to live in poverty? The island was then leased out to the Americans as a military base for MONEY How cruel and greedy can you get! This is a crime against humanity. Shame on her! The argument put forth was that she had no choice. Bullshit! As a human being she could have refused. I have no respect for the queen and we should not be associated with criminals. The main factor however is National pride! Enough is enough! Time to get rid of this archaic useless costly greedy and cruel monarchy now. I wrote a letter to PM Trudeau recommending a referendum sending a copy to the GG hon October 3 2017 and still no reply. Recently he said he does not want to get rid of the monarchy. I am about to write to him again asking for the courtesy of a reply to my letter and letting him know he should bow to the will of the people. I am a member of the Citizens for a Canadian Republic .Go on line for all details about them. If you combined forces and ideas it would be a good thing. The queen said she would not interfere with Scotland if they chose to b a republic . Your comments and reply would be appreciated.

Even dogs were killed in purpose! Children cried because of this too! SHAME on her! Time to get rid of this out dated useless costly greedy and heartless monarchy now! Write the P M and your M P today asking for a referendum since most Canadians want a republic! Join CITIZENS FOR A CANADIAN REPUBLIC or REPUBLIC NOW and get involved! Enough is enough!

As an immigrant to Canada, I can tell you that it is truly confusing to see the queen on our money. Time to say good-bye to the monarchy!!!

Most Canadians think it’s just symbolic and ceremonial. Examples of something that is symbolic are paintings and statues. If you have the queen on the back of all your money, your land is owned under The Crown, all your military emblems display the crown, and YOU REQUIRE ROYAL ASSENT(APPROVAL) FROM THE QUEEN TO ENACT ALL LAWS, then that is not merely symbolism and ceremony. Want to know what is merely symbolism at that point? The Canadian flag. Canada’s head of state is the queen of Britain, and it is a British state. The concept of a Canadian citizen is ceremonial.

A Canadian Head of State

When Canada takes control of its office of head of state, by filling the position independently and internally, we will achieve another milestone in our evolution as a nation.

Values

Only when our head of state is selected democratically will our highest office embody the values of our Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Independence

After 150 years of nationhood it is truly unfortunate that Canada still lacks the self-assurance to fill and administer its own office of head of state. Canada is the only member of the G7 which does not independently administer its highest office.
